I am an independent photography and visual book editor experienced with long-form narratives. I have recently relocated from New York City to my native Brittany, France, and excited about this new chapter.
During the 35 years spent in the United States, I was fortunate to work in various capacities for cultural institutions such as the Dallas Museum of Art and Yale University and legendary photographers Irving Penn and Richard Avedon. From 1997 to 2002, I was the U.S. based assistant to documentary film director Jean-Pierre Krief on the series Contacts co-produced by Arte and Le Centre National de la Photographie in Paris. I have taught photography at CUNY La Guardia Community College and Pratt Institute and I was a visiting instructor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. From 2015 to 2018, I served as co-curator of the Eyes on Main Street Outdoor Photo Festival.
In 2011, I began my journey as a visual book editor with FotoEvidence. Over the years I have had the opportunity to edit and sequence a number of monographs by award-winning photographers including Marcus Bleasdale, Tanya Habjouqa, Fausto Podavini, Stephen Shames, Danielle Villasana and Daniella Zalcman.
Among my independent book projects are East Harlem: The Postwar Years - photographs by New York Photo League member Leo Goldstein; Marked, Unmarked, Remembered by Andrew Lichtenstein and Richard Sandler’s The Eyes of the City.
My own photographic work focusing on issues pertaining to youth, cultural identity and social stigmas has been exhibited widely. My photographs are in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library and the Yale Art Gallery among others. I am a member of the American Photography Archives Group and on the Advisory Board of the FotoEvidence Association.
